Ford began the new millennium with a bang. With the announcement of their GT40 concept car at the North American International Auto Show, the heritage-based supercar design produced public anticipation that was nothing short of staggering. Pulling from the design language from their Le Mans-winning Ford GT40s, Ford was able to place their modern supercar into production and became one of the most powerful Ford vehicles offered. Sleek, powerful, and fast, its timeless design was undeniably linked to the 4-time winners of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Even to this day, the Ford GT is still regarded as one of the best modern interpretations of a historic race car for the road.
This 2005 Ford GT was ordered in the stunning Quick Silver Metallic over a black leather interior. The Ford GT took numerous design elements from the original race cars, such as the headlights, the swooping rear clamshell, the motorsports-inspired seats and a simple yet-elegant 6-speed shifter. The dash is centered around the driver, recreating the almost cockpit-like experience of the original Le Mans racers. The supercharger is clearly visible in the rear-view mirror with the entire 550 horsepower engine directly behind the seats, giving both the driver and passenger a taste of what driving a real GT40 might have felt like.
The first recorded ownership began In June of 2011. This GT would find itself going through a few owners, but never amassed any kind of mileage whatsoever. In fact, in the first 8 years after it was first shipped to the original dealer it had only added 626 miles. In February of 2013 the Ford GT was purchased by its most recent owner, who would end up owning the car until just recently. Careful not to add too many miles to the classic Ford, he only managed to drive enough to bring the odometer to today, 1,565 miles. During his ownership, he had the car serviced to ensure that it was in the proper condition for when he wanted to drive the car.
When the GT arrived at Canepa, the homage supercar was inspected from front to back. With only 1,564 miles since its original delivery, seeing the Ford GT in person was the true confirmation of its originality. The Quick Silver metallic paint finish is in like-new condition and looks as if the car was just shipped from Ford. The interior is nothing short of fantastic, showing little to no wear throughout the motorsports-inspired cabin. With the 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine and the rest of the mechanicals in excellent condition, the car only needed a light cleaning to bring it to showroom condition. With this prime example of a 2005 Ford GT with only 1,565 miles since new, this is the special opportunity for a lucky new owner to experience what owning a new Ford GT might have been like.
