The last of the air-cooled Porsche 911s, the 993 is the final evolution of the storied air-cooled lineage from Porsche. The 993 boasts all of the innovations and refinement that Porsche learned from building the 911 for 30+ years, creating a simple yet distilled package of excellent driving dynamics, everyday comfort and accessible performance. The C2S uses the same wide body as the coveted 993 Turbo but retains the purity of the 911 with only rear wheel drive. With an incredible amount of mechanical grip, boasting all of the updates to the 993 platform and a direct driving experience with enough power to get into trouble with, the 993 Carrera S is a fantastic performer in all conditions. With only 759 C2Ss sold in the US in 1997, this makes the late-model 993 a very rare air-cooled car indeed.
This example was first sold on April 21st, 1997 in Birmingham, Michigan. This black-over-Cashmere Beige was heavily optioned with an original MSRP of almost $73,000 vs. the base price of around $63,000! Those options included some Exclusive Programme options such as a carbon fiber handbrake, oval chrome exhaust pipes, carbon fiber gear level, metal door sill with insignia, and aluminum instrument dials. Other options included the motor sound package, a locking differential, active brake differential, Becker CR-210 radio and cassette radio, 18” Technology Design “Turbo Twist” wheels, 8-way power seats, automatic speed control, hi-fi sound system, sunroof, and a 6-disc remote CD changer.
Before coming to Canepa for the first time in 2017, the Carrera S had a number of like-minded owners who took the utmost and extreme care of the car. Evident by the documented mileage from Carfax, the car had only accumulated a total of 10,863 by 2012, averaging less than 750 miles per year. When the car arrived at Canepa in 2017 it had a total of 11,878 miles. Canepa began the “Canepa Difference” process, ensuring that the car was both mechanically and cosmetically sound. After this lengthy process was completed, a new owner purchased the car in late 2017 and kept the car until recently, trading it back to Canepa to purchase one of Canepa’s pristine 993 Turbos. During his ownership he added only 1,490 miles in two and a half years.
This rare C2S comes with its original books, jack, tools, spare, and compressor. Ready for its next owner to enjoy the 6-speed manual rear-wheel drive air-cooled 911, this is a car that lives to impress the driver and those who ride in it. Whether you keep it as a future collectable or enjoy it as a daily driver, this C2S is ready for whatever road you find yourself traveling down.
