This RS America is a truly remarkable car. Porsche said it was "for drivers who demand an even higher level of feedback, feedback so detailed, so precise that it usually found only in racing cars. In a Porsche RS model, refinements in the suspension, steering, wheels and tires all work in combination with perfectly coordinated weight reduction to create a dramatically different driving feel." Fitted with a 247 HP 3.6 Liter engine and stripped down to only 2954 lbs, it is truly a factory street racer.
Finished in September of 1992, this RS America was sold at Champion Porsche in Pompano, Florida on April 15, 1992. The first owner, Carlos B. Cook III, had come a long way for this rare Porsche and immediately brought it back to his home in Uncasville, CT. His service records show below average mileage and above average maintenance during its early years. By 1996 the car had covered only 11,330 miles.
In June of 2014 the RS would be purchased by Exclusive Imports of Scottsdale, and Canepa would purchase the car from them.
Since arriving at Canepa the RS has been treated to a suite of services including a concours level detail, and a full mechanical inspection and service. The RS comes complete with its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and all of its books, tools, jack, and spare.
This spectacular, low production, performance oriented 911 presents just as it left the factory in 1992. No modifications, no race time, just one of the finest Porsches ever made ready to be collected or enjoyed on the open road.

The RS America is a lightened, limited edition, performance oriented version of the two-wheel drive Porsche 911 (964). For the 20th anniversary of the 1973 911 Carrera RS, Porsche decided to build the 964 Carrera RS, which, like the original RS, was a racing 911 variant certified for street use. Thanks to the efforts of Vic Elford and a team from Porsche Cars North America a US compliant version was made for the American market. This special edition was given the name RS America and slotted in above the Carrera 2 in the Porsche model lineup.
A total of 701 RS Americas were built with 617 being 1993 models and, due to a higher volume of orders then expected, a final 84 were released as 1994 models.
