"A car is only original once" is the mantra for many collectors, valuing the way the car was originally delivered from the factory. This is no different for Porsche as having the opportunity to find a true original car is becoming increasingly rare in the day and age of so many restorations of collectible automobiles. "Finding a car that is over half a century old, yet original in concours condition, is like finding a needle in haystack," said Bruce Canepa. However, Canepa has found that in this absolutely stunning Conda Green 7,000 mile 1970 Porsche 911T.

Ray Novak was a commercial pilot for Northwest Airlines in the 1960s and 1970s. He was flying along the west coast of the country, through California, Arizona, Nevada and other states.
In December 19th of 1969, Mr. Novak drove down to Sunland Porsche & Audi in Las Vegas, NV to receive delivery of his 1970 Porsche 911T. Originally ordered in Conda green, with black leatherette interior, this 911T was ready to hit the road. Mr. Novak drove the car through the Nevada highways and had the first service of the car in January of 1970. Due to his job and limited time spend in his home in Nevada, the 911T was driven lightly and therefore did not accumulate a lot of miles.

During the next 18 years Mr. Novak would only drive the car 400 miles per year. In 1988, it was the last time that the 911T was registered and put away in his home garage and left untouched for the next 30 years.

Michael Deeb and Porsche technician Frank Collins got a call to provide an estimate for a car that was being sold in an estate sale in 2018. They headed to a house in the outskirts of Las Vegas to meet a family member of Mr. Novak that was handling the sale. Upon arrival, Michael and Frank realized that this 911 was like no other. Upon opening the door of the vehicle, Michael recalls smelling the interior like it was brand new, looking over the car he saw the low mileage odometer and was surprised at the fantastic condition it was in after being stored for 30 years.

The car was brought over to Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas, where Chief Classic Technician Frank Collins would take on the challenge to bring this 911T back to running and driving condition. He spent nearly 100 hours doing major service, that included rebuilding of the carburetors, installing a new factory fuel pump, brake hoses, and fuel system cleaning. It was his goal to do all of this service without disturbing the original patina of this car. Following this, the car would be back in driving condition, and was purchased by a well-known Porsche Collector in 2019. During his ownership, the 911T was serviced at Lake Barrington Motorsports in Illinois, and accumulated less than 60 miles since then.

Upon arrival at Canepa, every collector car is put through an extensive perfectionist process called the “Canepa Difference.” This includes a major and comprehensive mechanical inspection where all systems are checked, serviced, refurbished, and tested. They also receive an award-winning concours-level detailing, a thorough cleaning of each and every surface, from the exterior to the interior to the entire underside/chassis. Each car is a perfect example and a personification of Bruce Canepa’s impeccable attention to detail.

Complete with its books, service documents, COA, jack, original new tires from 1970, and spare wheel and tire, this Porsche 911T is ready for its next owner to enjoy the excitement of an air-cooled Porsche 911.
