1948 Triumph Tiger 100

The Triumph Tiger 100 got its name from its potential top speed of over 100mph, or “The Ton”. With a 500cc parallel twin, telescopic forks, and the optional sprung rear hub, the T100 was truly a daily driver who could hold its own on any track. This 1948 example was the first year for one very significant and fairly radical option, the introduction of the sprung hub, which offered a couple of inches of rear suspension movement.
An exceptional example of Edward Turner's game changing masterpiece, serial #96926 most recently attended the Quail Ride at both the 2011 & 2012 Quail Motorcycle Gathering, and won a 1st Place award at the 2012 Bikes on the Bay in Capitola, California.
Restored by Terry Clark (Gig Harbor, WA) between 2005 and 2007, Terry's restorations of early Tiger 100's and Speed Twin's are widely recognized as some of the finest examples extant. Terry entrusted the paint of the tank, fenders, and rims to his friend, and Triumph specialist David Wedlake. The chrome was restored by AFS, Port Orchard, WA, and the frame powder coated by Ken’s Powder Coating of Spanaway, WA. Upon completion this Tiger 100 remained part of Terry's personal collection until being sold in 2011 to Robert Jordan (Aptos, CA), who twice completed the Quail Motorcycle Gathering's Quail Ride and maintained the motorcycle for light weekend enjoyment.
Currently registered to the period correct looking license plate "48 100", this wonderful example is perfect for period events and concours display.

At the same time it retains that flexibility and smoothness which make it a very pleasant motor cycle when high speeds are not desired.”
