“The best air-cooled Porsche ever built.” – Bruce Canepa
408 horsepower twin-turbo flat six engine
18 inch Turbo Twist wheels
6-speed manual, all-wheel drive
In 1995, the Porsche 993 Turbo made its debut in the automotive industry and instantly became a classic. The car soon gained notoriety for its astounding performance thanks to its air-cooled 408 horsepower twin-turbocharged flat six engine and all-wheel drive technology that was evolved from the 959. The 993 Turbo is the pinnacle of performance, technology, and comfort, outperforming sports cars that cost two or more times as much while keeping the driver and passengers fully comfortable.
This Porsche was completed at the Porsche factory in December 1996, spec’d with Glacier White paint and Grey leather interior. The car’s first owner would take delivery of the car in Claymont, Delaware then drive the car to his home in New Jersey where he and the Porsche would reside until 2015. With just 4,626 miles, the second owner would only add an additional 300 miles. As soon as the most recent owner purchased this 993 Turbo, he had the vehicle delivered to Canepa for complete comprehensive service and concours preparation.
In addition to servicing and detailing every inch of this all-original 993 Turbo, a number of very subtle upgrades were included in the process. The front bumper cover was removed and refinished eliminating the license plate holes and U.S. bumper guards, giving way to the European air intake vents and corner lights. The rear bumper cover was removed and replaced with a new factory European bumper cover sans the U.S. bumper guards. The factory wheels and wheel center caps were refinished in “Liquid Metal” 4-stage paint, a $7,000 upgrade. The entire exhaust system was removed and refinished in Graphite Cerakote including Black Cerakote exhaust tips. The 993 was lowered to the European standard ride height while maintaining the original ride quality including a 4-wheel corner weight and alignment. The brake rotors and hats were refinished in Black Zinc hot coat to eliminate the otherwise corroded look of new steel rotors. The original equipment factory Brembo brake calipers were removed and refinished to a much a higher quality base/clearcoat finish, albeit to the original factory color. And as a finishing touch, new Porsche “Classic” carpet mats were installed.
Maybe the best looking 993 Turbo, maybe the best prepared mechanically and cosmetically. We think so!
