For the seemingly endless quest for power and performance, Mercedes-AMG are known for being fanatic about their endless journey in making superpowered exotics. Big burly V8s with growls that rival vicious bears are par for the course of the German automaker, inciting excitement in the drivers who find themselves in the cabins of these supercars. When Mercedes-AMG introduced their newest platform, the GT, people wondered how long it would take for tweaked edition to make it to the roads and track but didn’t have to wait long. Revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the turned-up-to-11 Mercedes-AMG GT was here: The GT R.
Mercedes-AMG’s GT R represents a wide range of changes from the standard GT car that it’s based on with improvements throughout. The handcrafted V8 engine has been boosted to 577 horsepower, reworked gears for better acceleration, and a 9-stage traction control system for an incredible amount of driving control. Active rear-wheel steering increases handling during low and high-speed maneuvers, AMG RIDE CONTROL Sport Suspension keeps you firmly planted to the pavement, while a host of strong and lightweight components keeps its weight down. Special AMG performance seats with Nappa Leather and DINAMICA fabric keep you secure during high-speed cornering while keeping you comfortable during daily-driving duties. Engineered to be one of the fastest AMG cars ever created, the Mercedes-AMG GT R lapped the Nürburgring in an astounding 7:10:92s time, cementing itself as a serious performer.
This example is a one-owner car, driven only 2,021 miles since purchased. It was optioned with the exclusive AMG Green Hell Magno matte paint finish, the color used in lots of Mercedes-AMG’s advertising. Carbon Ceramic brakes ensure that brake fade is non-existent if there ever comes a time, along with the AMG Performance forged wheels for a staggered look. The black Nappa leather and DINMICA interior with yellow stitching was selected, with yellow seatbelts to match the deviated stitching. The 577-horsepower twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with the AMG Sport Exhaust is nothing but intoxicating.
Now available at Canepa, this as-new Mercedes-AMG GT R is a sports exotic with the heart of muscle. With its twin-turbochaged V8 engine pushing out 577 horsepower and enough torque to spin the earth underneath it, the GT R is a force to be reckoned with. Paired with its intoxicating exhaust note and uncompromising driving experience that leaves the driver with a grin from ear to ear, the GT R is something you will hop in and be pleasantly surprised, everytime.
