The last of the air-cooled Porsche 911s, the 993 is the final evolution of the storied air-cooled lineage from Porsche. The 993 boasts all of the innovations and refinement that Porsche learned from building the 911 for 30+ years, creating a simple yet distilled package of excellent driving dynamics, everyday comfort and accessible performance. The C2S uses the same wide body as the coveted 993 Turbo but retains the purity of the 911 with only rear wheel drive and a naturally aspirated engine. With an incredible amount of mechanical grip, boasting all of the updates to the 993 platform and a direct driving experience with enough power to get into trouble with, the 993 Carrera S is a fantastic performer in all conditions. With only 759 C2Ss sold in the US in 1997, this makes the late-model 993 a very rare air-cooled car indeed.
This C2S was leased on April 23rd, 1997 at Sonnen VW Audi Porsche in San Rafael, California. According to the car’s original window sticker, the MSRP of this Porsche was $70,701.00. Leased new by Michael Carboy, an executive of Deutsche Bank in San Francisco, CA, and his wife, the couple went on to be the first and only owners of this 911 in the last 23 years.
Approximately 5 years later and adding 21,821 miles to the odometer, Michael and his wife purchased the lease outright which is noted in the original sales paperwork. After purchasing the car, they kept it for another 18 years and added 13,706 miles. They kept the car impeccably maintained as evidenced by the sizable amount of service paperwork that has followed the car, and primarily serviced in San Rafael, California.
Upon arrival at Canepa, each and every collector car for sale is put through an extensive and diligent process called the “Canepa Difference.” This includes a major and comprehensive mechanical inspection where all systems are checked and serviced as necessary. They also receive an award-winning concours-level detailing, a thorough cleaning of each and every surface that ensures that every car is a sight to behold. This particular car has kept its factory paint finish over the past 23 years and is 100%, a rare find that must always be treated with care. Finishing off with a foam-pad-only polish to enhance the paint finish, each and every car is a perfect example and a personification of Bruce Canepa’s impeccable attention to detail.
With its original window sticker, owner’s manuals, tools, compressor, jack, and spare, along with the copious amounts of service documents, this C2S is the full package. All original Porsche factory paintwork in the stunning combination of black with a black leather interior, there are few things more classic than a 993 C2S. Built for driver enjoyment with the 6-speed manual transmission, mountains of power and grip, and the last “pure” air-cooled 911, this C2S will be ready for whatever road you find with it.
