The legacy that Carroll Shelby created 60 years ago with the first Cobra has inspired multiple generations of automotive designers to push the limits of muscle car design. The Shelby Mustang GT500 is the perfect example. Originally created by Shelby, as the bigger, badder sibling to his GT350, it took the original Mustang based performance car from 1965 and modified it by installing a tuned big block V8.
As the years passed, new generations of GT500 were developed, creating more horse power and implementing more technologically advanced features than ever before. In 2020, Ford launched their latest version of Shelby's GT500, producing 760 horsepower it is the most powerful street-legal vehicle ever created in Ford’s factory. The GT500 is equipped with a 5.2 Liter Supercharged DOHC 32-Valve V8 paired with a 7-Speed Dual-Clutch Automatic. This combination along with the new revised suspension, exterior and interior has delivered the most formidable GT500 to have graced street or track.
This GT500 was ordered from Galpin Ford in North Hills, CA in December 2020. The owner ordered the GT500 with the optional Carbon Fiber Track Pack and Technology package. The Carbon Fiber Track Pack, is a highly desirable $18,500 option that includes carbon fiber wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber, Recaro leather-trimmed front seats, rear seat delete, front splitter wickers (removable vertical vanes on the edge of the front fascia that help tune the airflow), adjustable strut top mounts, and a huge carbon fiber rear wing. The $3,000 technology package upgrades to a B&O 12 speaker sounds system and voice activated touch screen navigation system.
Our GT500 also includes the $10,000 high-gloss shadow black painted stripes across the top. Upon receipt of his new car, the owner then set about protecting the Shelby's stunning Kona Blue Metallic finish. The entire car received a meticulous paint correction, ensuring that the coachwork far exceeded its factory sheen, followed by the application of Paint Protection Film to the front bumper, hood and cowl, both front fenders, side mirrors, roof, trunk lid, and rear bumper, and finally the entire car, including the wheels, received a ceramic coat.
Now available at Canepa, this as-new GT500 shows only 2,800 miles. With its supercharged V8 engine pushing out enough horsepower and torque to spin the earth beneath it, the GT500 is a force to be reckoned with. Paired with its intoxicating exhaust note, and uncompromising driving experience that leaves the pilot with a grin from ear to ear, the GT500 is a car that you can both daily drive, and use to surprise more than a few supercars at any given track day.
