The 1948 model 166 wasn’t just Ferrari’s first V12-powered road car; it was in fact the first road-going Ferrari, period. Now, in one last gesture, extending a giant middle finger skywards at the world's global warming pessimists, Ferrari has introduced the 812 Superfast, reportedly the final model that will come equipped with a naturally aspirated V12 engine.
Enzo Ferrari is alleged to have said “when you buy a Ferrari, you pay for the engine and I will give you the rest for free”, and Ferrari saved the mightiest V12 engine for last. The 6.5 liter power plant is transcendental. Equipped with 350 bar direct injection, variable geometry inlet tracts, and the ability to rev to 8900 rpm, it produces 789 HP at 8500 rpm and 529 lb-ft of torque at 7000 rpm. With an 8,000 rpm power band, it is the engine that defines the 812 experience.
This particular 2020 Ferrari 812 Superfast was produced at Maranello in September 2019, in the absolutely stunning combination of Blu Abu Dhabi over a two-tone Sabbia and Blue interior featuring Daytona style seats. Sold to its only owner on November 4, 2019, the 812 has covered just 2,014 miles since new. The front section of the Superfast coachwork has been protected by Paint Protection Film since delivery, and shows no blemishes. Canepa has removed the original PPF clear guard, and gently polished the Blu Abu Dhabi finish to a high sheen worthy of any show field.
Highly optioned from the factory, the total cost of added options exceeded $82,000, and included Adaptive Front Lights ($3,375), Carbon Fibre Driver Zone ($7,593), Carbon Fibre Central Bridge ($2,869), Carbon Fibre Dashboard Inserts ($7,593), Daytona Style Seats ($4,134), Suspension Lifter ($5,737), and Titanium Exhaust Pipes ($2,531), among many other items for a total MSRP of $449,472.
Most recently, with 1,757 miles on the odometer, the 812 Superfast was treated to a factory service on November 18, 2020 at Boardwalk Ferrari in Plano, TX. Available for immediate viewing at Canepa’s indoor showroom in Scotts Valley, Northern California, this spectacular 2020 Ferrari 812 Superfast is sure to please the most discerning of front engined Ferrari V12 enthusiasts.
