A lifetime of experience with, and enthusiasm for hotrods led Bruce Canepa to design this amazing ’32 Ford Fordor or “The All-Ford Fordor” and put it in The Canepa Collection – the Personal Favorites of Bruce Canepa.
The project began with a 6,244 mile, complete and original ’32 Ford, a rarity in itself. The goal of the build was to create an all-original Ford hot rod that was truly fast, handled well, and looked the part.
Utilizing the entire original body, frame, fenders, etc., the sedan includes more than 100 custom modifications. Some are obvious such as the 4” chopped roofline, and the Halibrand pin drive Indy magnesium wheels; others are more subtle such as the elimination of the rain gutters, and the rear quarter window bodyline accent extended to front A-pillar.
Under the hood is where the fun really happens, and being true to the theme it is a Ford powerplant under the 25-louver hood. Lurking up front is a 560hp all-aluminum 427ci Ford small block with Gurney Weslake heads and Weber carbs. It is attached to a Tremec 5-speed manual that leads to a Ford 9” rear end.
Bringing all this power to a halt are Canepa Design 6-piston AP calipers up front, 4-piston AP calipers rear, and vented discs all around. Delivering the handling up front is a narrowed drop axle with tapered leaf spring and integrated sway bar, and in the rear are coil over shocks and springs with integrated sway bar.
Inside is a hand-made, full terracotta leather interior that utilize the original seat frames. The 1932 Lincoln dash is fitted with Stewart-Warner instruments, and is accented beautifully by a 4-spoke leather wrap steering wheel.
The question often arises of why build a four door sedan and not a roadster or a coupe? Bruce’s reply? “I got tired of scaring only one person at a time.”
