1996 Honda Z50J Gold Monkey
VIN: Z50J2305182
Honda first displayed the 50cc Monkey bike way back in 1961. It was initially an attraction at the Tama Tech amusement park, a showcase for Honda products, and also appeared at the Suzuka F1 site as a ride for children. It was so popular that it went into mass-production and sold worldwide. Presented as an upscale lifestyle accessory in the US and UK, it was actually advertised as being able to fit into the trunk of your Bentley. The Z50A stopped being sold in the US in 1978.
This Z50J is a Japanese market special edition called the Gold Monkey. It was imported into the US around 2000, and sold to its only US owner. It was acquired by Canepa in 2014, and has been a hugely popular attraction on our facility tours.
