1960 Austin-Healey 3000 Mkl BN7
Completed on June 1st 1960, this BN7 was shipped off to the North American market eight- days later. It was optioned with wire wheels, heater, adjustable steering column, overdrive, and a laminated windscreen.
In 2010, then owner Ray Kennett completed a full nut and bolt restoration of the car. His shop, BTO Auto works, is a veteran of over 20 concours level Big Healey restorations. The engine, transmission, and suspension were rebuilt by well-known Healey expert, Peter Genovese of Highland Automotive of Highland, NY.
In September 2010, the car won the Austin-Healey concours class at British Invasion XX in Stowe, Vermont. In 2011, under the new ownership of Ray D'Ardenne the car won Gold Level Certification at the Healey Conclave in Colorado Springs.
This car may have a Gold Level Certification, but it is not a trailer queen. Being a 1960 it is eligible for many of the great vintage tours, and this BN7 successfully completed the Colorado Grand in 2013 as well as the Copperstate 1000 in 2014.
The car's most recent owner has focused on both the drivability and concours competiveness. In the past three years he has rebuilt the overdrive unit, rebuilt the carburetors, added electric ignition, installed new Lucas Le Mans headlights, fitted new Heritage carpets with heat insulation added to the floors and tunnel, restored the radiator, and kept the car in outstanding mechanical and cosmetic condition.
The Mk1 is complete with a factory hardtop, softtop, side curtains, tonneau, tool roll, jack, spare, driver's handbook, and British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate. It also features original period advertisements, magazine articles, as well as photos from the restoration, concours judging sheets, and recent service invoices.
