Not since the venerable 1973 911 Carrera RS has Porsche offered what is in essence a street version of the 911 RSR racing car. Powered by the 3.6-liter flat-six with 415 horsepower and 0 to 60 MPH times of only four seconds. This remarkable automobile truly lives up to it’s name RS (Rennsport or Racing Motorsport). This particular car was owned by a prominent west coast collector and with only 1850 miles is in NEW condition. This car was special ordered in white with black wheels.
The differences between the standard 911 GT3 and the RS begin with the bodywork. The RS is 1.7 inches wider and 44 lbs lighter. The muscular-looking rear end conceals a wider track that not only improves directional stability, but also increases lateral grip. A modified lip spoiler at the front of the car creates a higher level of downforce compared with the 911 GT3. It also improves the flow of air to the central radiator unit. The rear wing on the 911 GT3 RS is derived from the 911 GT3 Cup racing cars. Made from genuine carbon fiber, it is not only lighter than the wing on the 911 GT3, it has a larger surface area producing additional downforce.
Drive is transmitted through a six-speed close-ratio manual gearbox with high-precision action and cable linkage. In contrast to the 911 GT3, it has a single-mass flywheel. This is designed for the higher loads typically encountered in racing use. Being lighter in weight, it also provides a significant improvement in engine dynamics. This particular car features the optional ceramic composite brake system.
